The Empress Motel

The Empress Motel was one of those "crossover" buildings. It represented the "modern" Asbury Park, as opposed to the Asbury of the grand hotels. A kind of carefree technicolor plasticity lightens the spirit and says, "I'M ON VACATION!" Motels do that sort of thing. This is not unappealing; but I'll still take the the weighted cultural depth of the REALLY GRAND HOTELS wherever I can find it. For example...

 

"I vant to be alone." Great movie. And what a line-up. See it!
