"The Lid (Or Bid) is on"

Does the message concern the "dry" and sober life of Asbury Park? Is "E" a teetotaler or a bootlegger? Or is it something else?

R.S. sends us his interpretation:

"I believe the writer is refering to The "Emma B," a fishing schooner that came second to the original schooner, the "Ivanhoe". And I think the word "Lid" may be the word "Bid" referring to the Fishing Pier Access to the boats, or schooners."

The card was postmarked 1909 and was sent to New York City.
