A
Photographic Experience
Like None Other Well there I was with a photographer friend of mine who wanted me to try out a 20,000 millimeter (!) lens of almost miraculous sharpness. We were on the top floor of the new World Trade Center in NYC. I won't describe the lens (which is rather comical to see) but will explain the photo below. I focused on a Delta Airlines jet that was flying out of Newark on its way to Europe. The jet was about three miles away. (See map below.) I was stunned that I could get a closeup of a person's face who was looking out a window of the jet. Just as stunning, I knew the person! It was Sharon Crankenpoof, an old classmate of mine. Sharon always had a fear of flying and I could see it on her face, which clearly expresses, I think, trepidation along with an unconvincing touch of resolve and her usual skepticism. Remarkable! |
