My Ten Favorite American Movies

There are probably 50 to 100 great classic films that I love and hundreds more that I really like, but I must choose these as my favorites of the favorites, using both subjective and objective criteria. There are films that I watch more and enjoy for special, p ersonal reasons, but the following I must take as my all-around "peak films." (Despite some of their DVD and tape boxes, they are all in black and white.) Here I have presented the list in alphabetical order.

Best Years of Our Lives (1946)
