The photograph is dated August 21, 1901. "Rosamunda just off the boat" is written on the back in pencil. The photo was taken in New York City, at 401 Canal Street at the studios of A. Bernard. The puzzling thing is that photographer Andre Bernard was at this address from 1991 to 1997! The above image is by no means typical of his work, which usually demonstrates an obsessive interest in professional racing pigeons and other Columbidae. The whereabouts of Mr. Bernard are unknown.
